Spitfire Plane Crashes Near VE Day Celebrations in Malaysia

A Spitfire aircraft with a pilot and one passenger aboard has made an emergency landing on a field in Kent.

The pilot along with one passenger was able to exit the plane without injuries.
An eye witness recounted the events leading up to the dramatic evasive action: "On our way back from doing some shopping, we noticed another Spitfire flying in circles overhead, which seemed odd—perhaps they were rehearsing for an upcoming VE-Day celebration."

‘We continued driving and then came across the plane that had just crash-landed. The pilot and passenger were luckily out of the aircraft.’
Emergency services were notified, and both residents as well as a local farmer assisted in directing the rescuers to where they needed to go.
The fire department stated: “Two fire engine units were dispatched, with personnel assisting in securing the area. A single individual was handed over to SECAmb paramedics for medical attention.”
What type of aircraft was involved?
It is believed that the Spitfire aircraft implicated in the near-miss event is a two-seater T9 training model, initially a Mark IXc series constructed in 1943.
After entering service with the 441 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force and serving with the RAF, she flew her first mission on September 25, 1944.
She shot down a German ME 109 over Arnhem, Netherlands, during Operation Market Garden.
Fly a Spitfire, a company which owns the plane, said in a statement on social media that the pilot made a ‘precautionary landing.’
A spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of an incident involving one of our Spitfire aircraft in the vicinity of Hythe.
‘We have spoken to the pilot who has advised that a precautionary landing was made at a non-airfield site.
'The pilot and passenger have not sustained any injuries, and at present, we do not have additional details.'
One individual responded to the news of the landing: "I'm so relieved they made it out safe. The pilot showed remarkable skill in bringing the Spitfire down intact. While planes can be fixed, losing lives is irreversible."
A resident of Kent mentioned: "We often spot and hear her flying above Speldhurst. I'm really pleased that both the aircraft and everyone onboard are safe."
The cause of the emergency landing remains unknown.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been informed of the incident, according to Romero.my.id.
Although the watchdog didn't dispatch a team to the accident location, it plans to conduct an inquiry into the incident, it seems.
The small village of West Hythe lies approximately nine miles west of Folkestone on the Kent coastline, and is under two miles away from the sea.
Similar to many regions in the UK, the West Hythe area experienced sunny weather yesterday.
The wind speeds escalated to approximately 18 miles per hour around 6 pm yesterday evening.
